Fan Expo 2011

The Fan Expo was awesome! It was a long four days, (every night we'd come home, eat a little something and pass out) but still very fun. I think we learned a lot, especially about how to display artwork. Our apartment was so messy by Sunday...thanks to my boyfriend it is pretty much cleaned up now.

Here are some highlights from the four days. I guess I thought we took more pictures. (cell phone pictures?) Oh well there's always next year.

This is my boyfriend doing a free sketch for some kids. :]

The prints I thought would do well, did okay. The prints that I decided to hide were the ones that people liked and bought the most of. But now I have a better idea. It was nice to see that everyone liked something different from my display. Obviously my Skull Couple got the most attention though.

Look how full our table was! (This was taken on the last day before we sold a few of the paintings)

Our table started off with just our prints flat on the table. After the first day we went and got stands and some extra supplies. I think our table was the only one that looked different every day.

I also want to thank anyone and everyone who stopped by our table! Also thank you to everyone who who grabbed our business cards, I only have half left! :]

Note to self/Things to do for Fan Expo 2012:

- Take more pictures around Fan Expo
- Invest in a better display, something that will show off our artwork so there's more room on the table.
- Invest in one (or two) of those book portfolios
- Make some stickers. I wanted to do stickers this year but I was told we weren't allowed to? But I found a lot of people selling stickers anyways. So next year for sure, I'll have stickers.
- I also want to try buttons! (most popular product on Zazzle are my buttons)
- Bring more food and snacks, maybe some fruit and more chocolate
- Make more paintings!

Nail Art 12: Pink & Silver

I love my silver nail polish, it looks like aluminum foil! I also like my right hand a bit more than my left, for once. (Especially the silver ring finger)
Please excuse the last picture, I know its super blurry and unfocused but I kinda like it.

Homemade Popsicles!

A while ago, I bought a popsicle mold from the dollar store and I've been making homemade popsicles almost every weekend. Some are really good and others not so much...

My first few batches were made with jello mix. I've made a few different flavours, (cherry!) but the one pictured above is lemon and lime. (Really good)

I tried pudding too, but the pudding flavour I had was butterscotch...its was so bad (it was pudding mix, so maybe it went bad?) that I threw the rest away. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad with chocolate or vanilla?

Recently I've made frozen yogurt pops. These ones above are strawberry, and they are so good. I think frozen yogurt pops are my favourite now.

Even Cap likes them.

Business Cards

By the time you read this I will be at Fan Expo, at my artist alley table! (until Sunday) Check out my awesome business cards I had made just for this event.
This means that I'll have a few scheduled posts for you this weekend, since I'll be busy. :]

Have a good weekend!

Nail Polish Collection

I thought it would be fun to show off my ever-growing nail polish collection. As you can see most of my nail polish is from Sally Hansen.
I never noticed how many different shades of pink nail polish I had until I lined them all up.

Old Black & White Photos Part 1

Finally edited some of the pictures I took of my Grandparents old photos. (I ended up taking pictures of the pictures. So I cropped them.) Im going to start off with the photos from my Mom's side of the family because they had more to share.
I don't know when I'll post more but for now I just have these to share.
But there are more! Check out parts two and three.

I want to start off with a picture (self portrait) of my Grandpa, mainly because without him most of these photos wouldn't exist.

This is my Grandma, wasn't she pretty? My Mom looks so much like her.

Here is my Grandma (far left) with a few of her work buddies.

Here is my Grandpa with his 3rd daughter. (He had 4 daughters in total)

This is a photo of my Grandma when she was still pretty young, so (maybe) not taken by my Grandpa(?) (Im not too sure who took this one) Look how long her hair was! Pretty sure that is one of her brothers standing beside her playing the accordion.

And here is a picture of my Mom when she was a little girl, helping with the Christmas tree.

Here is my Mom in her late teens, on my Dad's motorcycle.

This is a shot from the front balcony at my Grandparent's home. (Which is an apartment)

I thought it would be neat to take a photo of a photo. Other than new coats of paint on the garages, not much has changed.

And that's all I've got for now. :]

Sporty Octopus Design

I haven't posted much freelance work because I haven't really been doing much of it. I did however, a couple of months ago finish a logo design for one of my ex-supervisors who was starting his new job as a kids camp instructor.
He wanted a cartoony octopus holding different kinds of sports equipment.

This was the final approved sketch. I can't find the other sketches though.

I don't think hes actually used the design yet, but pretty sure he said he was planning on using this design for his business cards and/or t-shirts.

Nail Art 11: Rainbow Triangles

Love them!

Love my thumbs. (as usual) They took the longest to do. Don't they look cool?

Finally got used to making triangles. Although the best nails I think are my thumb and pinky fingers.

Tip: Paint away from the tape. You're probably thinking 'duuuh' but the first time I used tape on my nails, I was painting in every direction.

P.S. This time next week, I'll be setting up my Fan Expo table! ahh! Exciting!
