Zombie Tutorial

So you want to be a Zombie?!

What you'll need:
Old clothes
Sissors/knife
Halloween face paint/makeup
Fake blood
Flour/baby powder

1. Get some old clothes and rip them up. Get a good pair of scissors and cut some holes in those pants and make some rips in your shirt. Use a small knife on any tough material like jeans. If you don't want to use any of your old clothes then take a trip to your local thrift/second hand store.

2.You'll want to get some of those Halloween face paints you see in stores this time of year (if not you can always just use normal makeup) You'll want to get some black and white paints. You'll want to start out with a layer of white makeup on your face, don't forget to put makeup on any exposed skin too. (arms, hands, neck, legs etc.) Then you'll want to blend (using your fingers, a sponge or a tissue) in some black, careful don't use too much black, start off with a very small amount. Blend it all together and get the shade of grey desired. Pay special attention to the eyes, you'll want to add a darker layer of grey around your eyes.

3. Grab a handful of baby powder or flour and rub it all in your hair. This will make you look even dirtier and like you came from under the ground. This looks best with darker hair. Rub in as much or as little as you want. If you'd like, put some on your face and clothes too.

4. Now for the most fun part and most messiest! Get your fake blood out go nuts. You'll want to put the most amount on and around your face. Some blood on the corners of your mouth, under your nose, coming from your hair line, and maybe even under your eyes. (Careful to not get any in your eyes or mouth.) Don't forget to put some blood on your clothes too. Smear it, splash it and drip it on your clothes for different effects.

5. Now that you look like a zombie, it's time to start acting like one. Start practicing that stiff-leg-walk. Zombies are very slow, so don't move too fast. Get a good stare-face going and blink as little as possible. Don't forget your moans. Like the moans you used to hear in school when your teacher said there was a test tomorrow, and the whole class would moan. (well, maybe you still hear that if you're still in school.)

TIPS:
> Add some small amounts of green face paint to your skin to give it that extra rotting look.
>Instead of putting flour or baby powder in your hair, try oatmeal. If you're using very liquid-y face paints, you can put some on your face with the paint to give your face more texture.
>Don't forget to tease your hair a bit for a messier look.
> Be careful about putting face paint and fake blood around your eyes and mouth. Even if they say it's non toxic, that shit stings and will make your eyes water.

Inspire Me Thursday #1

From now on, Thursdays will be for inspiration I find around the net. :]

This girl looks so sweet. I love what she's wearing.

I like this drawing and bats!

I'm obsessed with Geishas.

Always been a big fan of this artist.

And sleeping kittens are cute.

Nail Art 17: Halloween Spiders

More Halloween Nails!

I like how the spiders and spider webs turned out.

A poorly executed bat. I always end up drawing more complicated things on right hand, which means I use my left hand. (my bad hand)

So these pictures were taken at work. I collected some fallen leaves on my way in. Some of the pictures turned out really bright because I was so close to the window. It was the best I could do!

Note to self: Do not buy any more nail polish, at least until Dec.

Toronto Zombie Walk

This year I went to the Toronto Zombie Walk to take some photos, since no one wanted to come with me and dress up like zombies. :[ (I was promised that next year we would go and dress up) Anyways here are some of my favourites from yesterday. If you're interested check out my Flickr, I've posted just over 100 photos on there.

This year a couple got married before the actual Zombie Walk. It was very sweet. (I got like 5 photos of them kissing)

They were always surrounded by people trying to get their picture. I was up on a hill and since I brought my longer lens I could see them fine. :]

Pretty sure this girl was supposed to be from the cover of Pride and Prejustice and Zombies.

Perfect expression!

This one was near the end of the Zombie Walk, (for me) I only stayed for about 2 hrs. It was getting too crowded and I couldn't catch up to the other zombies to take their picture so I called it quits.

Love the super green and purple skin, classic zombies.

This girl looks like she came out of a classic japanese horror movie or something! (love it)

I saw this zombie clown when I first showed up but I was too busy getting shots of the zombie wedding. Luckily I found him again.

This girl was so cute and creepy.

When I saw this guy, I couldn't help but laugh. The tooth is too perfect.

Lots of people had those cool white or red contacts. Creepy.

Does anyone else have Zombie Walks in their area?

And I guess the Zombie Walk sketch I did will have to wait until next year to be completed.

Thrifty Finds

It's been a long time since I posted my thrifty finds. Well that's because I don't go as often as I used to when I lived with my Mom.

I don't normally do 'fashion' posts or share what I'm wearing but I love these shoes!

I ended up finding two mini art/picture stands. I'll probably use them to hold up some mini painting I plan on doing. I also found, not one, not two but five mini frames. (three of them still in their original packaging!)

Pumpkin Time

Yeah I know, my pumpkin is soooo original.
Have you carved any pumpkins yet?

P.S. I forgot to take a picture of my pumpkin in front of my Mom's house. :[

Film Photos

I had enough time and some change last week to get just one random roll of film developed. Overall the roll was a pretty big disappointment.

I took this the weekend of the Fan Expo when I was waiting to get inside to set up my booth.

I like this shot of Justin and Cap at the dog park.

This is probably my favourite shot from the whole roll. I took this a few months ago when I was walking to the clinic.

Anyways, if you're interested I uploaded a few more over on my Flickr account, which is now a pro account! So go check out some of my older photography. I've got almost 400 pictures up already.

P.S. These were taken with my capital one camera and the film was some sort of Lomography film. I think the Lomogrpahy CN 400 ASA?
