In 2011 I...

I thought It would be a good idea to do a recap/review of this past year. This will be the first time I do something like this and there's a couple of reasons why I want to do this. First of all, in 2010 I only posted about 59 times (on average about 3 - 4 posts a month) but to be fair I was also in my last year of college then. In 2011 as of now, I have posted just over 200 posts. That is a big change! (on average about 15 - 20 posts a month.)
My blog has grown a lot in this last year. It has grown not only in readers but also in content. I've been trying to post more of my personal life on here. You can probably tell I don't do it that often by the number of pictures I have up of myself. Although It did feel like the start of 2011 was a bit rocky for me. It did get better.

Anyways, I thought I would share some of the highlights of 2011.
So in random order, In 2011 I...

Photoshopped a lot of pretty pictures! This one being probably one of my favourites.

Also sketched a lot. (althought I sketched more last year.) I hope to post a lot more sketches in 2012.

Went to the Zoo. Twice. I almost even got a membership so I would have a good excuse to go more often. My favourite animal being the wolf. I stopped by their exhibit three times before leaving to take pictures of them. I also bought a new lens, a 70 - 200mm basically for the Zoo.

I finally signed up for the Sketchbook Project! I need to finish it within the next week or two actually.

Worked on a few 3D animations and on my reels. (Animation and After effects) This 2 character lipsync was probably my favourite.

Went to Poland for 2.5 weeks in June. Visited some family there, travelled around a bit.

Also travelled to Greece for about 2 weeks, right after visiting Poland. Although I am Polish, I was actually born in Greece. Very beautiful there but so damn hot.

Flew a lot. Travelling to Poland, then to Greece, then flying back home. We took a lot of planes and because of that I also took a lot of pictures of the sky and clouds. This is probably my favourite shot. I also took a few videos of the clouds and also of landing and taking off.

Planted some seeds indoors. Even though only two of my plants actually lived long enough to grow anything, and only one grew cherry tomatos...and they didn't taste good at all. I still had fun gardening. I plan on planting some more seeds this coming spring. I also took a weird video of my plants moving.

Dyed my hair pink. Then I tried making it red, and it turned out pink again. Even though I love coloured hair, and especially loved how my hair looked pink... I had to dye it back to a 'normal' colour. One, for my trip to Poland and Greece and two, because I couldn't afford to keep dying my hair every 2 weeks. Plus I am lazy and dying your hair pink 2 - 3 times a month takes like, half a day! This picture can also represent that I also bough myself a mini instax camera. I love this camera!

I posted a bunch of old photos that I copied from my Grandparents. I loved seeing pictures of my Grandparents in their younger years. As well as seeing pictures of my parents growing up and seeing how my Mom and I look very much a like. Here are the posts, one, two and three.

Started posting pictures of my nail art. I started painting my nails funky colours back in high school. Then took a break for a few years (I still would do my nails just not as often) and started again just after college. I decided I would start sharing my nail creations, since it is like another form of art, right? This one with the rainbow thumbs was my all time favourite. Can you believe I did this one at work, while taking phone calls? I really liked this nail art design too.

Went to Fan Expo. Nay, I was a part of Fan Expo! Justin and I got a table and sold some artwork. It was so much fun that we plan on doing it again.

Did a few marker doodles, stippled with markers. Once in a while I'll do a whole bunch of these kind of drawings, just for fun. People seem to like them. Which is why I used one for my header.

Went to the Zombie Walk but this year instead of dressing up I just went to take pictures. And take pictures I did!

Bought myself a set of macro filters and used them like crazy. Now I use them for almost anything thats small and close up.

Did a few crafty things, like melt some crayons on canvas. I hope I find the time to do a lot more crafts things like this in 2012.

Bought (and got a few as gifts) a few 35mm cameras. One of them being the actionsampler. I found that in 2011 I rediscovered my love for film cameras by discovering other film lovers. As well as finding great sites like; Lomography, Photojojo and fourcornerstore.

Got a new and our first puppy! We named him Captain and we love him. He also just celebrated his first birthday. :]

Some other things that happened in 2011:

We moved out of the small bachelor apartment that Justin was living in, and into a bigger 1 bedroom apartment.
Bought our first couch and other home-y things.
Took my yearly underwater pictures.
Took jumping pictures!
Bought our first Christmas tree.
Created a few fun GIFs.
Got my first real animation job.
Found I both, like and dislike freelance work.
Got my first shot of lightning.
Got a second computer.

...That's about all I could think of. I do have some plans and goals for 2012, on and offline. But I think i'll keep those to myself for now.
I hope you had a good year too. If you didn't well then I hope 2012 is better for you!
What was you're favourite part of 2011?

Christmas Stuff!

I hope you had a great Christmas break. I've always liked seeing what kind of presents people get and give around Christmas. So I thought it would be fun to share what I got this year. :]

I spent this year at my Mom's. This is a picture of the tree back home. The tree is so huge that it hides a lot of the presents. Trust me we had a lot under there.

My first double ring and it's batman. Win. Too bad I'm silly and put the ring on upside down?

Another camera necklace. I love things to do with cameras.

A whole bunch of shirts and sweaters! Then on boxing day I went out and bought more.

A couple of Christmas ornaments for our new tree. It's going to look so great next year.

More film! More importantly, instax film!! (I've already loaded my cameras)

This was a totally surprise. I thought that maybe it was a movie at first. (But my family almost never gives movies as gifts, or gift cards.) Our computers have been crashing a lot lately, especially the older one.

Other presents I got but not pictured; a couple of earrings, perfume, pajamas (we get new ones almost every year), tights, sweater dress, nail polishes, nail polish art pens, wallet, ereader, winter hat, popcorn bowls, body lotion and chocolates.

Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I know I said I was getting a pink or white tree, but they were all sold out. (All they had was on tiny pink tree, and I wanted a big one!) Next best thing was a green tree with very colourful lights. Im hoping to have a lot more ornaments for next year.

Captain, also wishes you all a safe and happy Christmas and New Year!

Inspire Me Thursday #9

Last 'Inspire Me Thursday' till after the holidays...

So pretty!

Have you ever tried to take a picture of a seahorse? I have. It's hard. Respect.

So cool.

I told you I really like wolves...

I like how the hair was done and the colours used.

Happy 1st Birthday, Captain!

It's Captain's birthday!

His first birthday, he has come a long way. Captain didn't come with any papers when we got him and we didn't think to ask his past owner. All we knew was that he was about 3 months old at the time we got him. So he was born some time in December. We 'officially' made his birthday on Christmas day, but I'm going to celebrate and post some photos up of him, with some fun facts today! :]

One big thing I regret was not taking more photos of him when he was a puppy. He was so little and thin. He was sick, I don't know if his last owner knew he was sick or if they knew and thats why they sold him to us. (Maybe that's why, I didn't want to get too attached to him because if he was seriously sick we wouldn't be able to keep him. But thankfully he just needed some pills and love.) For those of you who don't know. Captain had ring worms, which makes you poop blood and your poops all runny. He was also pretty dirty and skinny. The bloody poops are what freaked me out the most. I thought he was dying, I thought we bought a dying dog, someone found out he was sick and sold him... I was so sad and mad but it was treatable and he got better after a few weeks.

Anyways... this is the very first picture I took of him, in our old apartment, that didn't allow dogs. Haha.

A shot of him at my boyfriend's parents house, playing with their dogs. He had such a little neck for a long time, he could easiler slip out of his collar.

Yep, he's got a bit of an attitude. Even then he thought he was the boss. He likes to steal toys.

Captain likes his treats, but usually not dog treats. He is a picky eater, maybe from being so sick for who knows how long...so we have to get special food for him. For the first few months we didn't know what kind of dog food to feed him because he wouldn't eat that much, throw up a lot and his poops weren't normal. (like pudding or jello) But the vet helped us and now it's all good.

Loves to play. Of course all dogs do. He gets so excited sometimes he runs from the bedroom to the living room. He jumps on the bed and on our couch and ends up pushing both of them against the wall since we don't have carpets. Cute but annoying...

A very quick action shot, he was pretty hyper cause I was calling him and running around the apartment with him. I know it's not really focused or a nice picture but I like it. Reminds me of how silly he is.

When I found this picture on my camera I laughed so hard. I love when his tongue hangs out like that. One word. Derp.

This is where Captain likes to sleep and and eat his treats during the day. (which I hate cause he's messy.) We have a futon and a couch. The futon is old so he's allowed to go on it. He likes to prop his head up like that. sometimes he'll come over, lean on the futon and put his head on my foot or leg. Oh I wish I had a picture of how he 'sits' on the futon. He'll sit with his back legs on the futon but his front legs are still on the floor. He's like half sitting, half standing. So funny looking.

Looks like he's laughing. One of the many faces of Captain. I like how he looks without his collar on. We like to take it off on weekends to give him a break.

Sup. See how far apart his elbows are? He has always laid down like that. I used to think maybe he had something broken.

His favourite toy would probably have to be anything made of rope or string. He's got like three rope toys. He loves his tug-o-war. He likes to bring the rope right to you, drop it on your crotch and just stares at it until you move it. And you have to move it, I mean it's a smelly, wet, rope... on your crotch.

Sometimes when he closes his mouth, some skin hes stuck under his teeth I guess and he gets this weird bump. When this happens, he likes to stare at you.

Coming in from a walk or from the bedroom maybe?

This is the living room window, he likes to people watch. He started doing this maybe a month or two ago. He used to stand up on it with his front paws but I guess he got lazy and now he kind of...rests on the window/heaters? Sometimes I look out the window with him and there's no one outside...

I left this picture of Capatin for last because I love it so much. Not too long ago and just took a bunch of pictures of Captain for about an hour. (excuse our messy bedroom) This is a great action shot of Captain jumping on our bed. I wish I had more but they were always of him landing or just about to take off.

Happy 1st Birthday Capatian. Cap. Cappy. Cap-attack. Cap-a-roo. Cap-a-lack. Cap-e-taaan.

P.S. I hope you learn how to walk better on the leash. :]

Nail Art 21: Christmas lights & snowflakes

What, more Christmas themed nails? Yes.

My not-so-great attempt at Christmas lights. I learned that I should have picked less colours and left more room between the black lines for the 'lights' to go.

Atleast the snowflakes turned out nice? Well, one of them did.

First time doing a design on 'bare' nails. (well, there is a base coat, but I mean coloured nail polish) I kinda like it. I see more snowflakes in the future.

P.S. Been 'away' from the net this past week-ish because our computer wasn't working...Obviously it's better now. :]
