Inspire Me Thursday #28

So damn beautiful! Sorry if you're getting sick of wolves. I can't stop. I love them too much.
I love this bear's expression. He looks so calm. Just chillin' in the water.
Love the feel of this picture. Their hats and dress look lovely.
A flying cat! Enough said.
I love looking at old/forgotten buildings and houses. They always have so much history and character.

Magic Tree!

I can't seem to get enough of these magic tree growing things! (Total kid here.) This one is very similar to the Magic Christmas tree I posted about last year, only this one's just a regular tree and the 'leaves' are colourful. So below are the highlights of the Magic Tree, Usually it's fully 'grown' after about 6 or so hours.. But I think the most action happens within the first 2-3 hours.
And I made a little GIF too. I can watch this all day.

Recesky Twin Lens Reflex Camera

For the longest time I've been wanting one of those DIY Camera kits. I finally ended up getting one off ebay, you can find a bunch there and all decently priced. I got the Recesky Twin Lens Reflect Camera!
I couldn't help but take this picture of Captain. He is always so nosey whenever we start doing things, he came and sat pretty much right on my feet when I started opening the box up.
Here is what was inside the box. It actually doesn't have that many parts to it and it says that it's only supposed to take anywhere from 30-60mins to put together. Well it took me maybe, about three hours! (And I even stayed up to finish it) It took me so long mainly because I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right and I didn't have english instructions! (make sure before buying online that you get english instructions) So I had to look around the net for some and I ended up using two sites, you can find them here and here. The first site explained each step very well and the second site had great pictures.
My biggest tip for any DIY camera is to read the instructions fully before starting. And don't screw everything in all the way.
The only real glitch I had was that my turning knob (with the arrows) doesn't turn, so I can't tell if it's okay to take the next picture or not. I found a fix for it but I'm assuming my first roll will be mostly double exposured and/or overlapped. Which is okay with me.
I usually only develop my film when I have a handful of them, right now I only have two ready to go. And the closest walmart to me is about an hour + away. So It'll be a few weeks before I can see what I have but the fun thing about this camera is the viewfinder!
Has anyone else made their own camera(s)? Any tips? Or links to pictures you took with it?

Lots of pink

I took these pictures maybe a week or two ago. The trees don't look like this anymore, I wish they stayed pretty like this for longer. Last year I missed it completely and I made a promise to myself that the next year I would get some pictures of them. And I did, digitally, on film and instax. These are digitally taken.

Popsicles + Life

Hey! Here's another GIF of Captain. (Can never have too many GIF's of my furbaby!) This was from when I did my Photo an hr not too long ago. Okay, story time! Ready?

A few weeks ago Justin and I were walking Cap, and there was a couple infront of us...as we were crossing the street, I saw a piece of paper fall out of the ladys pocket. My first though was that it was probably a receipt or some candy wrapper but then it sparkled a bit in the sun? Weird. It was super windy that day too, so I ran for the paper and caught it with my foot (just as a car was coming) I saved it. And guess what it was? It was a $100 bill. The new ones in Canada are made of plastic now and have a little shiny square on them. Anyways I caught up to the couple and gave them their money back. The rest of the day I felt so good!
And the funny thing is, before this all happened we talked about our money situation during our walk, and how we need to make more/save more.

Then just the other day I was out walking Cap alone, and I find an Iphone just sitting in the open grass, no one in sight. I'm assuming the person forgot it, since we had fireworks at the park the night before. Anyways I decided to call someone (luckily the phone wasn't dead yet) from the phones contact list to let them know I found their friends phone. Lucky me I get the owners wife and she lived near by so I dropped off the phone. The rest of my walk with Cap was so nice. I felt so happy.

The reason I'm writting these little stories down, isn't to brag about how awesome I am or how great my karma is (is going to be?) ...but I just want to say it felt (and it feels) so nice to help someone out. And I want to look back through my blog later on and find this post and smile. I always think that if it was my money or my phone or whatever and I lost it, I'd be sooo happy to have someone return it to me. It it would make my day to know that there are good people out there. Because usually I just see a lot of bad things. It feels like this summer is going to be a good one.

Also, I wish I could update more... especially with more artwork (I've been painting and making things) but I'm in work-mode since I only have about a month left with this job. Hopfully I'll have something lined up after this.
Hope your week is going by well! :]

Tooth Fairy

Is it weird that I kept Captain's puppy teeth? Well these are his puppy teeth. I remember he lost most of them, all within the same week. I kept finding a bunch of them whenever I swept the floor.
I don't know what to do with them. Right now they're in a little shot glass that I keep near my desk. Maybe I can get them framed, in a really tiny picture frame? Does anyone else have their pet's baby teeth?

Nail Art 33: Zigzags and polka dots

So this was my first try with these sweet nail stickers. (If you want more info about them...I first saw the post about them on The Dainty Squid, here.) I ordered a few pages, they are pretty cheap and shipping was superfast. (I got mine within 3 days.) Let me just say these stickers are awesome, much better than tape. (Even though I'll still use tape but not as often now.) I probably should have used a brighter colour for the tips to show off the designs better, but I was just too excited to try them out.

Inspire Me Thursday #26

Look at his face!
Now look at her face! Kids are silly.
Check out this cool and awesome mummified 'unicorn'.
This has always been one of my faves. This is something Justin did a while ago.
I like her hair, glasses and everything!

WIP: Shy raccoon

I thought I'd show off some WIP. First time using wood canvas and I thought it would be really expensive so I got a smaller size, but it wasn't too bad. We'll see how it turns out after I paint it.
I don't know what inspired me to do a raccoon wearing glasses and sweater but I've always liked raccoons and forest animals.
Back in the day we used to know a lady who was a friend of my mom, she raised a raccoon baby one summer. I remember visiting her one night and the baby raccoon was climbing everything. It was all over the place! All over her too.
A little detail.

Photo an hour - May 7th

Here's another go at a 'Photo an hr'. I was hoping I'd be able to do one every month but the last one I did was in Feb. Ohwell. Oh and also I want to say hello to the few new readers/followers. Yay, hit just over 200, thanks guys! :]
So this is what I did on the 7th of May...
8:30AM
Justin leaves for work around this time so he wakes me up by letting Cap on the bed. (That second picture of Cap is just so funny. His head looks like a weird pointy triangle!)
I take a quick shower, make the bed and check on my plants.
9AM
I make myself some breakfast and eat while I check my emails and blogs.
The painters came to paint the walls in the hallways of my building and this made Captain a bit nervous.
10AM
I do some dishes and get started on work.
11AM
While I'm working I notice how cold it is, (even with all the windows closed) so I make some tea. Yum, fruity. :]
12PM
Captain's favourite time of the day! It's time for his super-long walk around the park. Usually I walk him after I have lunch but I wasn't hungry yet so we went a bit early.
1PM
I am so hungry after our walk and make myself a grilled cheese sandwich. Then I touch up my nails. I was watching an episode of something while I did my nails, but I don't remember. It's safe to say it was either; 'Roseanne', 'Futurama' or 'American Dad'.
2-3PM
Work, work, work.
4PM
It's time to upload some of my work. This sometimes takes a while so It's a good time to take a little break. I watch some 'community' while we have something sweet. :]
5-9PM
I get back to work after my little break and stop around 7PM to have some spinach pizza. Then I work a bit more before I call it a night. Then later I head over to a friends house for movies.
