Review: March Movies

Silver Linings Playbook
So we finally went to go see this movie, we were a little late on seeing it but it was worth it. I wouldn't say this movie was amazing but it was really really good. Over all it was a very real movie with some very sweet and touching moments.

Recommend? Yes
Re-watch? Yes, probably.
Oz the Great and Powerful
I was kind of excited for this movie cause com'on, The Wizard of Oz is a classic! Anyways, the movie was alright. It wasn't that bad but I was just expecting more. I felt the movie to be a bit cheesy, and not in the good way. Obviously I realized early on the movie was directed more towards kids. The CGI wasn't that great and it wasn't that dark of a movie either. (For some reason I thought it would have been a bit more scary.) But I will say that they tied the two movies together pretty well and explained a lot about Oz.

Recommend? Sure...
Re-watch? Sure, why not.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
This movie was so fun. Just a fun, not-serious movie. I laughed a bunch of times. The best parts for me were every time Jim Carrey was on screen. I am so happy I'm starting to see him in more movies now, I missed him. I mean, his older movies are a part of my childhood!
P.S. Can't wait to see him in dumb and dumber to!

Recommend? Yeah!
Re-watch? Yes please.
The Croods
After seeing a trailer for this, I knew I wanted to see it even though the character designs (to me) looked ugly, but there were shots of very colourful backgrounds and cool looking creatures. So Obviously I had to see it and it was awesome! It totally exceeded my expectations. It was cute, funny, kept my attention, the animation was great (and it was even amazing at some parts),  it had a good story and I loved the ending. I can't praise this movie enough, I just really liked it. And I think it's a great movie to see with the family.

Recommend? Yes!!
Re-watch? Of course!
Olympus has Fallen
This kind of movie is not, at all what I would pick. I do like my action movies. And I do like guy movies but this is different... this was like over the top hollywood... you know. But that being said I did enjoy parts of the movie. Overall though I found it to be very cliche and super predictable! (which I hate! Why are people okay with predictable? Maybe I've seen too many movies...) I found the start to be sooo boring because it was so predictable. I also had a lot of beef with the ending but the middle was good. I enjoyed that. I didn't like the over the top music (it made made laugh when I should have been shocked or sad?). I didn't like all the shots of the flag, especially in slow-mo. (once is enough) I did like anytime Gerard Butler was hand to hand fighting. Okay, he pretty much saved the movie for me. I think he was perfect for this movie. I generally really like Morgan Freeman but even he was bugging me in this movie... that's just how much this movie bugged me.

Recommend? Only for the action/fighting parts and if you like lots of guns and explosions.
Re-watch? Probably not.

Best movie of the month: The Croods, for having a good story, great animation and being very colourful and fun.
Worst movie of the month: Oz the Great and Powerful, for being too cheesy and slacking on the CGI.

Nail Art 54: Strawberry fields forever

I was actually going for watermelon nails but ended up with strawberry looking ones instead. But that's okay, I really like how cute they look.

P.S. Most of you guys probably know by now that Google Reader is disappearing in a few months (hence why everyone's getting Bloglovin' accounts) BUT I just want you to know that this does not mean that Google Friend Connect is disappearing too. Google Reader and GFC are two separate things and as far as we know it's here to stay (for now).

What I wore: Pocket dress

Necklace: gift
Dress: The Embellished Room
Belt: Katie
Tights: ? (had them for a long time)
Boots: Probably Payless...

It has been a while since I did my last What I wore post, a couple of months in fact. I got this dress not too long ago while we were out doing some running around. I almost didn't get it but then I found out it had pockets (and deep pockets!) So awesome. This dress is also kinda thin but not see-through, so that's okay because it makes it perfect for the warmer months. I can see myself wearing this dress a lot this spring/summer and I can't wait! I am so ready for sunshine and less layers.
I haven't gone to get my hair trimmed in a while, I'm trying to decide if I want to grow out my hair or keep it this angled style (short in the back, long in the front) until after summer. Also... my hair is all natural again! (yay!) It's more of a personal victory but I'm so happy. I guess I just needed a break from dying my hair, I kinda missed my natural colour. (I've been bleaching and dying my hair since high school, It's nice to give my hair a break.) It feels so healthy now. I think the worst thing I did to my hair was bleaching it. My hair didn't fall out or anything but it felt like straw... even after conditioning it! And even though I love funky coloured hair, I don't think I'll be bleaching my hair ever again. (or atleast I'm going to try really hard not to) It's just too much work, money and does too much damage.
I'm going to have some fun experimenting with dying my hair with semi-permanent dyes or the ones that wash out and see how that goes.

Sea Junk

Here is the finished Sea Junk doodle! I'll admit that it was a quick-y for me, more of a warm up really. Sometimes I feel like I've forgotten what I'm supposed to do when I draw... and that is when I need to do some warm up sketches or finish a drawing that (to me) isn't that special or too complicated. I had a lot of fun drawing and colouring the dead fish.
And I really like the colours. :]

P.S. You can buy Sea Junk on Redbubble as, a sticker, a shirt or a hoodie!

If you didn't know, I have an Instagram (@weirdklown) and I'd like to think I take a lot of pictures. But mostly of Captain. I decided early on I'd create Cap's own hashtag, #captainthehusky. Not too long ago I went to check out how many picture I had of him... just over 100! These are some of my favourites.
Ain't he a cutie! If you want to check out the rest of Captain's pictures, just search #captainthehusky. :]

WIP: Sea junk

Here is a quick little WIP post of something I started over the weekend because I had about a day and a half off. It was so nice, we went to the mall and relaxed and watched Game of Thrones. And now that it's Monday I have a whole bunch of new shots to work on. It looks like it's going to be a busy week for me. I see lots of late nights in my future. Oh well, could be a lot worse. :]

My bows

So these are all the bows I made for ComiCon (with the idea that anything not sold would be sold at Fan Expo in the summer) I'm pretty sure there are about 100 bows here. Pretty sure. I should have counted better.
Do you have any favourites?

ComiCon Cosplayers

I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked to, but I did take a few. The ones from our table were taken by me and the rest were taken by Justin.
I'll be sure to take a lot more pictures next year!

P.S. Check out my post about Toronto ComiCon, if you haven't already.

P.P.S. I was wondering where all these 'new' followers came from, but I guess it's all the Google Reader people switching to Bloglovin' cause Google Reader is going bye-bye in July. I see you, hi! :]

Nail Art 53: Yellow and green leopard print

I love how bright these nails are, I need to use my yellows more often!
I'll admit it's not my neatest leopard print design... and as you can see I messed up a nail or two, probably because I didn't wait long enough for the outlines to dry.

Toronto ComiCon 2013

This was our first time at the Toronto ComiCon with a table in Artist Alley... and the first Con of the year for us. It was pretty awesome! ComiCon isn't as big as Fan Expo but still there were lots people. This is a picture of our table on the first day after setting up. As you can see we upgraded from the sticks and string, to the wire cubes to help hold up some of our prints and bows. I think it makes us look more professional, and I guess we are, since this is our third Con!
We had some time to kill so we walked around a bit. Here are a bunch of other artists setting up.
Lots of other vendors setting up. I love walking around before the big crowds come in...
So a few weeks ago I really got into Kigurumi Pajamas, (Animal pajamas! They`re so cute.) and I searched eBay and found a bunch of them for sale for like $25 - $45, which is awesome and I`ll be ordering mine soon... but they were being sold at ComicCon for $65 - $85, which is crazy! And I saw lots of people walking around with them. I just wanted to run up to all of them and tell them they could have gotten the same one for so much less! Although they did have a bunch of characters I've never seen before...
This is Mike Hogue, we all work together and he was at ComiCon too. He was selling a bunch of prints and pins and promoting his online animated cat comic, Jinx the black cat. Check it out if you have a minute.
On the second, and last day I realized it would be a super smart idea to get some product photos or customer photos... you know what I mean. Well I only took like three but this one is the only one that turned out.
This is our table on the second day, looks pretty much the same...
Overall, ComiCon was pretty awesome. We had a great time and made lots of sales. I sold a few of my prints and sold out of three types of bows, which was a great feeling. Having the wire cubes worked great for clipping my bows onto, lots more people noticed them. We will totally be getting a table next year or possibly get our own tables. Exciting!
Shout outs; I want to thank our friend Marcus for driving us to and from the Con, to Justin for watching the table on his own while I walked around and to all the people that stopped by to say hello and/or bought something. Thank you so much!

I am so happy about how the weekend went, I want to spread the love by offering 15% off any ad space with the code: HAPPYTIME. :]

P.S. The promo code for the ad is for a limited time only. Maybe a week, maybe two (who knows?) so use it while you can.
