The Sugar Spot

I mentioned before that I did some freelance work for a cupcake shop (located in Toronto.) The first thing I did was help design the shop sign and logo for The Sugar Spot.
Now I've designed logos before but never have I seen one of them made into an actual store sign! And even though I didn't fully create the font used, I did alter it. Either way I do feel a bit proud. It's such a big sign and it looks so cool!
You might not be able to see it well, but it's a sad peanut doodle.
And there are the nine finished paintings I did, all hung up in the shop. Woo! Below are a bunch of sketches and some detailed shots. I also posted a few WIP shots on my Instagram too.
Here are all of them together right before I sprayed them with a protective seal. My favoutites have to be; the purple, teal and pink ones. But I love how they look all together the best.So colourful!
Well that was fun. :]

Lots and lots of cupcakes!

Not too long ago a friend (we worked together at a retail store) ended up buying a cupcake shop and re-named it, The Sugar Spot, candy and bake shop. She asked me if I could paint up some cute little cupcakes to put up around the shop, take a few photos for the new website and help design the store sign/logo.
I'll be showing off the cupcake paintings and process in another post, but for now here are some of my favourite cupcakes.
Please note, I did not make these cupcakes. I just took the pictures. :]

Instagram + update

1. Got my nose pierced again and it was the worst piercing experience ever! The guy was really slow and twisted/bent my nose a lot. (The first time I got my nose done it was so fast and I barely felt anything.) My nose is very tender.
2. One of my cupcake WIP's
3. One of the many pictures I took of Captain in his cone.
4. An awesome meal at The Works!

Maybe some have noticed I haven't been posting as much as I usually do. There's a good reason for that. I am super busy! Not like, 'I'm so busy working on top secret stuff, eeeep!' Nope, just busy with work and some freelance stuff. Looks like things will slow down in a few weeks, so until then I won't be posting as much. I'll still be around checking out my favourite blogs and posting once in a while but don't expect much. I have a lot of work on my plate and I'm trying to stay on top of it. I'll probably be back 100%, some time in May.
In other news, Captain is doing much better. He is cone free and loving it. Already seeing lots of good changes in him.

Have a great weekend guys!

Sketchy

Here is a small sketch I did over the weekend that I messily 'cleaned' up and added some colour. Nothing new to report other than just working like a mad-woman. I can't wait until May when things should slow down a bit... hopefully.

Nail Art 55: Sweet tooth

I love these nails. Well... I loved them, (this design was from last week.) Anyways, I picked up a new glitter nail polish and I love it! I'm not a huge fan of glittery nails, glitter nail polish isn't fun to apply but I found the smaller the glitter the better it looks. (and the better it goes on your nails) So expect to see more glittery nails in the future.

P.S. Check out the first time I ever did teeth nails.

Cone of shame

On Friday we went and got Captain neutered! We planned to get this done a few months down the road, so we could save up some money for it. But we had to get it done right away because the last month Cap has had a stupid amount of test done (urine tests) and every time the vet found something wrong. In the end all the problems we kept finding pointed to him being neutered. The vet suggested we get it done asap, so we set up the appointment for the next day.
This is my first experience with a pet being neutered, I didn't know what to expect when we went to pick him up. Captain went from a very brave, curious and stubborn dog who always walked with his tail up in the air... to a dog that was afraid of everything and walked with his tail between his legs for two days. Aw!
The first two days were probably the worst. He whined so much and I felt so bad. He also didn't eat for a day and a half days and wouldn't do his 'business' when we took him outside. (this made me worry so much!) But then he did at the end of his second day at home and he's slowly getting his energy back. When we were at the vet, one of the vet nurses went to put the cone on him he peed a little, out of fear. :[
He'll still be wearing his cone for the rest of the week but he's almost back to his normal self. (walking around with his tail up, what what!) I'm sorry to say but I found him bumping into things (with his cone) hilarious! Well at first I was sad because he'd get scared but after a few times I couldn't help but laugh. I wish I had taken some videos! Although now he's got the hang of it and he uses his cone to poke and push us.
I feel like a crazy dog lady, I know lots of animals get spayed and neutered and people go through it with their pets all the time but it concerned me, okay! That's my baby right there. It also freaked me out after I looked up some neutering videos (don't do it.) Atleast it's done now. Hopefully when we get some tests done next week he comes out with a clean bill of health and that'll be the end of it.

Note to self: If you ever get another dog get them neutered as soon as they are old enough for it. Get it over with. Also it's cheaper when they're younger.

What I wore: Burgundy red

Details
Hat: Ardene.
Necklace: gift
Cardigan: Urban Planet
Dress: Suzy Shier
Belt: from another dress
Tights: Payless
Shoes: Payless

I love this dress! It's thick but not too thick and It's not too short. I need to get more cardigans, like one in every colour! I only have two right now and I wear this one a lot. I used to not understand everyone's love for them (I'm a hoodie girl.) But now, I get it. They complete any outfit.
Yes, I'm not wearing shoes in one of these photos. I forgot, Oh well.

I'll be at Atomic Lollipop

Just wanted to let you know, I got some great new yesterday... I got accepted into Atomic Lollipop
I'll have a table there, the first weekend of August. I am so so excited, I think this is it's third year, so it's still pretty new. I want to try out more expos/cons and see how my work does outside of what I'm normally used to. (which is fan expo, which is mostly fan art/super heroes.... which is not what I really do.) From what I've seen and read online it looks like it's a lot of fun... anime, lolita, circus, colours, candy and just awesome stuff. Totally what I'm into!
This also means I'll be going to two conventions/expos/events in august. Atomic Lollipop and Fan Expo, It's going to be a busy month for me. And a busy few weeks before it.

My Easter

I hope everyone had a good Easter weekend! I decided this year that I would visit home.
I helped make the traditional veggie salad that we make for all our major holidays. (And I keep meaning to make a post about it here.)
It was still a bit cold but warm enough to sit around a nice fire for a while.
My Mom made lots of cakes and sweets.
This is a shot of my Easter breakfast (this is our blessed food, minus the salad).
I went to visit the deer and peacock at a park in my home town with a friend.
The peacocks put on a show for us.

And here is a little video of the cute deer!

P.S. Two years ago for Easter I made a similar post and also visited the animals
Some things don't change. :]
