Advertise in September

I am so happy that it's September! I am so ready for the cooler months. The sweaters, the coats, the scarves, the layering. August was a fun and very busy month for me but I am ready for it to slow down a little and for some free time to do whatever. I'm hoping to start some new paintings and maybe check out a few exhibits around Toronto.
If you're interested in tagging along for the ride you can check out my sponsor info here.

Fan Expo 2013

So here are my photos from Fan Expo this year. I usually post them a lot sooner but this year I got sick over sat/sun, I thought it was just a cold but it turned into strep throat. So that's been fun. Still pretty sick but I'm feeling better.
Anyways, this was our best year yet! I mean out of all the conventions we've sold at, this was our best one. I sold the most amount of bows ever  (I have about 60 bows left after going to Atomic Lollipop and Fan Expo. I usually make about 200 - 300 bows.) and Justin sold 4 out of his 5 paintings! Pretty cool stuff. I also really like how our table looked. Not too crowded. Justin displayed his paintings nicely with an Easel this year. We also had Justin's friend Jake (who comes over almost every year now for Fan Expo) and Justin's Mom and sister over for the weekend. So we had a full apartment but it was super fun to have someone with you at the table. Plus team work to get things done and get everyone fed. And Captain got lots of attention.
Below are a bunch of pictures from our long weekend. They are pretty much in order from the Thursday to Sunday. And at the very end there's a small re-cap of how each day went.
Walking in through the food court to set up.
After set up we walked around a bit...
Justin's Mom. :]
So happy there was a good amount of Sailor Moon stuff out this year.
The only picture of us together that turned out okay...
 Heading home!
Justin in his Red Hood cosplay.
 Justin and his sister.
Jake and Justin, who is doing some arm stretches...
I want to make some of these.
And my view from behind the table.

Short recap of each day:
Thurs - Sold a good amount of bows while Justin was selling a good number of his prints.
On this day I decided I would go buy tickets for my parents so they wouldn't have to wait in line for Sunday... and it was the worst experience of my life! I was so angry but the day ended on a good note because Justin sold his first painting on this day.

Fri - More bows and I started selling some prints. I sold out of 2 kinds of bows. Justin also sold another painting. My Jackalope print was doing pretty well.

Sat - Sold out of another kind of bow. I started running low on my 'big' bows. This is the day I had my tattoo appointment too. When I came back I had sold 2 of my smaller paintings. Nothing compared to Justin's size but I was still happy. I think I also sold out of one of my prints, I'm not sure which one though. This day was pretty busy up until the last 2 hours and then it died!

Sun - This day overall, was very slow and kind of boring. Sold just a handful of prints (both of us) and bows. But ended on a high not. In the last 30mins Justin sold 3 of his paintings!

Also! I forgot to take pictures but other than the tattoo I got, I also got a few small prints, a living dead doll and a bat girl mug. And already I can't wait to go fabric shopping and start making more bows for next year!

P.S. Check out Fan Expo 2012 and Fan Expo 2011.

What I wore: The peplum top

Bandana: Old
Shirt: H&M
Pants: Gift
Shoes: Payless

One day I was shopping around and not really buying anything. Went into all my favourite stores and still nothing was really catching my eye. (which is totally okay because money.) It wasn't until I was heading out of H&M that I saw this leopard print. I headed towards it, hoping it was a cool sweater or a dress... but no it was a peplum top. Ugh! One of those peplum tops that I was told to stay away from. But it looked so cute. So I tried it on anyways and I fell in love. Now I'm on the hunt for more.
I've also been wearing my hair up like this pretty much all summer. I don't know why it took me so long to get into the hair-bandana-pin-up thing but I love it! Whenever summer rolls around I remember why I cut my hair off in the first place.

P.S. I am super sick from Fan Expo, but I'm back and safe and recovering.

If you're reading/seeing this now, then I am on my way to set up for Fan Expo weekend! So until I return next week with pictures enjoy this yawning Actionsampler GIF of Captain. I haven't done one of these in a long time, this one is from last year. I think.
Hopefully I'll have a bunch of new Actionsampler pictures and I'll make a bunch of fun GIF's out of them soon. But for now this is it.

Have a great weekend! If you're going to Fan Expo this year come say hi. :]

WIP: Tribal Bear

This week will be pretty busy for me. Trying to get my animation for the week done, before Thursday. (preferably by Wednesday!) So it'll be a little dead on the blog until next week (when I'll come back with a butt-load of pictures from Fan Expo!) But until then here is a WIP of a painting I started after I got back from Atomic Lollipop. It still has a couple more layers of 'tribal' to go through on the head and some details but It's getting there.

Nail Art 60: Purple, red and glitter

These are probably one of my favourite designs I've done so far. (Even my Mom complemented them!) I had the purple and red done for a few days before I decided to add the glitter to cover up the chipping. And look what happened! :]

In other news, I'll probably be working through the weekend to get as much work done as possible before Fan Expo. It's going to be a crazy 4 days because we are having 4 people over. 4 people in our 1 bedroom apartment with a husky. It's going to be interesting.
I think I'm going to bring one of my disposable cameras with me this year too.

Today I want to talk to you about BeauCoo, It's this awesome site filled with photos of what women are wearing. Yeah, the best thing about this site? You can browse for women that are around your size/measurements and have a better idea of how that piece of awesome clothing would look on yourself. Do you know how amazing that is?! I don't know about you but sometimes I have a hard time finding things I like and fit me right. This is a great tool to have, especially if you do a lot of online shopping, (Or just dislike spending hours in stores trying on stuff.) what a time saver!

Now I know I'm not really a 'fashion blogger', (heck I'm lucky If I do an outfit posts every other month!) but I am a woman, I wear clothes, I shop and sometimes I even shop online. But I'm also an artist and I find inspiration from a lot of things. One of those things is fashion and clothes. And for this reason, I follow a lot of fashion bloggers. So even if you're thinking 'But I'm not fashionable...' Well BeauCoo isn't just about 'Fashion' or the latest trend it's about clothes that fit, it's about discovering new styles and/or brands, it's about connecting with other people and it's about spreading the body-positive love.
Check out this Body Positivity video!!

This is how it works, When you sign up on BeauCoo, you'll fill in your measurements, which is kept confidential. Then you can start browsing a bit and see what everyone's wearing or filter it so that you only see what other women with similar measurements to you are wearing. I personally love going back and forth between these two filter options. I love seeing what other ladies my size/shape are wearing and if I like it a lot, I want to know where they got it.
Sometimes I have a hard time explaining things, so I'm going to make a list of reasons why I like BeauCoo so much...

  1. It's free! Not only does BeauCoo have a website you can surf but there's also an app available. (Check out the Apple app or Android app!) Do you know how easy it is to take a quick photo of your new favourite shirt or pants and post it up? Super easy. Actually I find it kind of fun.

2. BeauCoo is all about being body positive! (#BoPo) It's not about who looks the best in their red dress. It's about loving your body and being a good person, because we all look freakin' great in our red dresses!

3. It's a great tool to have if you do a lot of (online) shopping.

4. It doesn't matter what shape or size you are, this is for every woman out there! You'll find lots of other ladies with similar bodies and you'll love seeing what kind of fun stuff they're wearing. Maybe you'll even try something new?

5. BeauCoo loves seeing pictures of you. Seriously, If you're one of those people that likes to take pictures of your-beautiful-self but has no one to show... well why not do your daily/weekly outfit posts on BeauCoo. I'm sure you'll find lots of other women that are very interested in seeing what you're wearing. Plus it's fun.

  6. You'll meet other women with similar fashion tastes. You'll probably get some tips and maybe get inspired by some one else.

So go check out BeauCoo and If you do decide to join, you can find me here. :]

P.S.Yes this was a sponsored post but all opinions are my own.

Tobermory part 3

Are you getting sick of all these Tobermory posts? Well lucky you, this is the last of the pictures, I promise. If you're interested, check out parts one and two.
 Had to be done!
We ended up visiting Singing Sands before we left. It was super windy that day, (like the other days) so we didn't go in the water. But next time we visit for sure! See that dot beside Tania on the left side. That is someone walking in the water. yes that far out and you are still just walking.
After we walked around in the water a bit we decided to walk a trail. Well guess what we found... yeah a rattle snake!
After that short walk, we checked out the trail sign and they barely mention rattle snakes. No warnings or anything!
Right before we headed back on the road we stopped to check out the lighthouse. It was the same one we saw on the boat tour.
And this is the very last picture I took with my digital camera because it died after this. So, perfect timing!
Hope to go back one day.
