Christmas Break

This year I went back home and visited my family for the holidays. Overall the visit was nice. The first few days were a bit hectic because I was helping my mom out with a lot of the cooking and baking. Our power went out for about 20mins from the ice storm and my mom freaked out, for nothing because we got our power back and just went right back to cooking. I got to do some boxing day shopping and got to hang out with Tania for a day too. Anyways here are a few pictures from my holidays.
I learned how to make this awesome and easy dessert. I might share it on the blog.
We like to make handmade perogies for our Christmas eve dinner (because we don't eat meat for that day). We fill a bunch with cabbage and mushrooms and potatoes and cheese.
This is the veggie salad we make for every major holiday. This is only half done, it's still missing a lot of stuff.
We also made soft ginger bread cookies. They are very good, still have a few left over too.
This is my Christmas eve dinner. Yum!
And of course after the ice storm I had to go out and take a few pictures. Look how pretty everything is!
 So cool!
I got a couple of gifts this year, a bunch of socks, some shirts and sweaters, perfume...but the big ones are my DS XL with 3 games and my new sewing machine! I've already tested it out and it's pretty quiet. I love it. Can't wait to make some bows and maybe clothes with it!

What I wore: Nerdy Cat

Sweater: Giant Tiger
Necklace: c/o Eternal Girl
Pants: Old
Boots: Ardene

I don't know why but I really like that second (close up) picture of myself. I just looks like a 'cooler' version of me... How awesome is this cat sweater? And yes Tania found it at Giant Tiger, I always forget that sometimes that place has some awesome stuff and for cheap too. I've been wearing it like crazy, definitely my go-to sweater this winter.
I am also really digging my necklace from Eternal Girl, I haven't gotten any new necklaces in a while, and this one is so pretty. I just love the design. There are a lot of other really cute designs in the shop too, go check them out! My favourites are; this, this and this.

Anyways, I'm sure a lot of you guys are still relaxing with family and friends and/or gearing up for New Years, remember to be safe! :]

Goals for 2013: Recap

So, remember my 2013 goals? You can check out my update on them at the 6 month mark too.
Well now it's time to recap how I did...
1. Tattoo. (Yes)
Not only did I get my colourful owls done on my arms but I also got some pretty roses done on my feet (and a small fly on my leg.) Already have a bunch of ideas for next year, just hope I have the funds for them.

2. Print off pictures. (Kinda)
I printed off pictures from my Tobermory trip this summer. But I never got around to getting pictures printed from my other trips or everyday life. Something I still want to get done later though.

3. Dress up. (Kinda)
I want to say I did alright with this one. Almost every time we went out I'd 'dress up'. Not every time but most of the time. I've also noticed that when I find a really nice dress I really want to wear it, like all the time! (My Mom is sick of seeing this dress) I've found a few favourites and have been wearing them like crazy.
4. Get active/volunteer. (Yes)
I think I did a pretty good job with this one too. We did the hot yoga thing for a while and then it just became too much money. I also took a bunch of hula hooping classes. I started in the spring time, took a break for about a month or two and then got back into it once it started to get rainy here. I want to keep up with hooping. The classes aren't that expensive and there's so much to learn. It's really fun. I'll be taking a new class for it in the new year!
I never got to fully volunteer at the humane society like I wanted to but I did get to help out at an event. So that is something. I'm hoping I'll be able to do more volunteering stuff next year.

5. Use that fancy-schmancy camera. (Kinda?)
The only time I used my Pentax this year was for outfit photos and photos of my artwork. But I did take it to the Ripley's Aquarium of Canada! But basically I kept it safe inside...
6. Decorate. (Yes)
Our little apartment is nice and decorated. There are still a few empty spots on the walls but really, it's pretty full here. I like it. Looks nice and homey. Too bad were thinking of moving. The walls are cracking and coming down. :[

7. Save money. (Yes)
Yes, I saved a nice chunk of money. Althought I had to put my saved funds on hold once we got closer to Christmas because some things changed with work. So to be safe we stopped all money going into savings accounts until we were sure of what was happening. Then we found out some bad news about our taxes and looks like all that money I saved up is going back to the government. Ohwell... next job I'll be starting that monthly withdraw again.
8. Online store. (Yes)
YES! And I had a great first month! So glad I finally did this. I can't wait to see how my little shop grows and changes next year.

9. Animate in 3D/stop-motion. (No)
I never got around to making this happen. I guess I was just too busy. That's okay though, I got a lot of other things done.
Did you make any goals for the year/month/season? How did you do?

Happy Holidays!

I just wanted to make a quick post and wish everyone a safe and happy holiday! I will be leaving in the next day or so, to visit my family and friends back in my hometown for most of next week. I don't know for sure when I'll be back but let's just say, see ya next year!

What I wore: Minty Dress

Necklace: Ardene (old)
Dress: Thrifted
Tights: Ends
Shoes: Urban Outfitters
Cardigan: Urban Planet
Belt: Modcloth

Check out that crazy hair, I'm about to dye it again but it doesn't look that bad, right? (It's okay, I know it doesn't look that great, haha) Not too long ago I found this dress and it fit! I almost never find dresses that fit me right at thrift stores. I think I got it for just under $10, It's a little loose around the waist but nothing a belt can't fix.
Also the shoes from Urban Outfitters, I hardly ever buy from them (especially clothing) because it's so expensive but I found these in the corner one day, on sale from $80 to $20, yes please!

Toronto ComiCon in December

I said I would be back with some pictures from the small one day convention. yesterday. Let's just get to the point, it was a bust and sort of a waste of my time... The convention wasn't advertised enough, and there was a snow storm the day before so a lot of the roads weren't properly shoveled the next day. It seemed like a lot of people weren't there to buy artwork or prints.
Anyways here are a few pictures from the day
This was our table set up.
Here is a shot a few minutes before the show started.
And here is a shot a few hours into the day.
And one shot of a guy that made an outfit all out of old teddy bears. Amazing!

Well, that was basically it. I don't think we'll be doing any more convention in December. :/
Hope your weekend was good!

A Convention in December

Today, Justin and I are off to the Toronto ComiCon. Pretty sure it's the same ComiCon that we go to in March, but I guess they decided to add one more before the new year? This is going to be our first time doing a convention in the winter time and so close to the holidays. The last few weekends I have been sewing bows like a mad woman. Here are 150 hair bows/clip-on bow ties ready to go!
I'll be back with photos from the event. :]
Wish us luck!

Fisheye Summer

Another roll of film got developed. This time from this past summer.
A picture of Captain and I, that actually turned out great! I look good... he's looking at the camera. Perfect! New fave!
 Enjoying a butt scratch maybe?
Justin is usually my first test shot on almost every roll.
A failed picture with Captain. :[
